I don’t play a lot of covers. But I got this song stuck in my head, and I couldn’t stop singing it. So I figured I might as well learn the guitar part and take a video!
I first discovered the artist, Nick Hakim, on the Late Night Vibes playlist, sometime in 2018. That was the year when i struggled with hemiplegic migraines.
I felt like my life was falling apart, and was craving a lot of calm, soothing sounds, which led me to that playlist. And one of Nick Hakim’s other songs, “I Don’t Know,” really spoke to me.
I dug into the rest of his catalog, saw him live at Webster Hall last year, and eventually found my way back to this song, “Heaven.”
I love the sparse arrangement, and the simple message.
The reminder to enjoy THIS LIFE.
